I can't believe the Judge allowed Grimm to get away with the terrible analogy about how we have a responsibility to raise the debt limit in order to pay back past debts, just as a parent would have a responsibility to pay back large credit card balances run up by their children.

This assumes that the people actually control the crooks in DC, and are therefore responsible for the actions of those crooks, which is totally false. A much better analogy would be to imagine that a thief stole your credit card and ran up large balances. Would you feel that you had a responsibility to pay for that?

Israel didn't seem to have any problem 'defending' it's borders by shooting 12 unarmed Palestinians trying to return to their own land.

Even if Israel did withdraw to the '67 borders, which congressman Chaffetz finds so appalling, this would still fail to respect the Palestinians private property rights to all their land within the '47 borders that was expropriated by the state of Israel. This does not include any land that was purchased by a Jew from a Palestinian in a mutually agreed transaction which would of course be a legitimately transferral of ownership.

Far from recognising Israel's "right" to be a Jewish state (even though 1 in 4 Israel's citizens are non-Jews), I feel a libertarian position would be for all individuals (Christians, Jews and Muslims) between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea be given equal rights in a single, minimal state based on natural law, free markets and private property.

Why is no one discussing military spending? The question is posed as "do we cut entitlements or do we default?" Judge, we need you to touch that third rail. We need everyone to start asking "why aren't the 800+ military bases around the world being defunded before we kick our seniors to the curb?" Eisenhower and Smedley Butler's warnings have been ignored. You, judge, are possibly even coopted–Fox news holds your reins. Bring our troops back home. Bring our money back home. Change from fiat dollars which implicitly allow wreckless government spending to gold and silver currency. It's all tied together, folks. Learn or become the newest, biggest third world nation on the planet.

Bring the troops home, shut down the foerign military bases or collect expense for maintaining their presense from Country. Return the money to SS that Johnson took.
Shut down Dept of Energy and Education and have Congress vote to abide by the Constitution.

Trying to end wars gets you shot with your brains splattered on the streets of Dallas. Or was the exec order over silver money signed 6 months before that fateful day?

I do not recall hearing His Honor announcing that Ron Paul might as well write off the support of Israel, the American-Israel lobby and the Republican Jewish Coalition as they continue to misrepresent Dr. Paul as anti-Semitic or anti-Israel. The great libertarian offer as it applies to Israel (as well as for any other foreign country) should be this: Would Israel agree not to lobby for or accept any forced funding by American taxpayers in exchange for the U.S. never again meddling is Israel's affairs?

As libertarians, Judge Napolitano and I completely support the 1st Amendment and the free exercise of religion. The difference it seems, is in the Judge’s inability to call out some of the shortcomings of an institution which he holds as sacred and too often, beyond criticism. It's curious how the Judge can justify free choice as it applies to the ritualistic mutilating of a helpless, male infant who cannot decide for himself, whether he wants to succumb to the pain and spectacle of this ancient procedure.

We may both support the right of those parents, both secular and non-secular to circumcise their male, newborn child. The practice however, is still barbaric and steeped in unfounded fear, superstition and myth. Additionally, the hygiene legend has finally been debunked. Who would ever think to do something like this to any human being, regardless of age, ethnicity or sex, if not for the mesmerizing, manipulative chokehold religion has over its congregants?

The Judge’s comments regarding circumcision provides further proof that the Pro-Life movement is merely Pro-Birth. They could care less about the life of an infant once the umbilical cord is severed.

As much as I respect the judge, and enjoy his show, I'm disappointed that he brings Charley Wrangel on so frequently. Wrangel's most aggregious conduct wasn't even addressed publicly, but he disgraced himself anyway. This is not the type of character that the judge should associate himself with any longer. It's like Charlie is being rewarded for something, which, of course, should not be the case.

100% correct. With 800+ military bases abroad we have moved from a republic to an empire. This is idiocy. We should only have a few military ports-of-call for staging and refueling purposes and to aid in defending trade routes. Other than that, bring 'em home and place our troops on both borders…NOW!__ Also, different subject but a parallel scenario. The federal govt. 'owns' most of the land in this country. Sell all 'public' lands that are not currently being utilized as military bases or national parks. I would recommend a lottery with a minimum ticket purchase to be sold ONLY to American citizens…not corporations directly. Talk about the trillions that the Treasury would make, and the liberty that our citizens would enjoy.

Excellent comment. I would add, though, abolish the IRS and move to a federal sales tax as we already pay at the gas pump. Food and medical costs would be exempted. The rich would necessarily pay more of the tax burden as they have more $$$$ to buy goods and services with…simple. The mechanism is already in place to collect said taxes…all retailors and vendors. They just send a check monthly out of an escrowed bank account to the Treasury.

  17. rtaylortitle7 Said,

    July 8, 2011 @ 11:33 am

And, the Dept. of Agriculture as well…another money pit. Bring the troops home and garrison most of them on both of our borders.

    @langa,

You make a good point. Most Americans have no idea that CON-gress is the millionaires club….i think that there is less than 5 members of congress that are not millionaires – is that representation by the people? I say not! Do we really wonder why they cater to big business? Do we really wonder why they are always passing laws that do more harm to the middle class than good? This is because THEY are the ones that profit from the law changes that they make, the wealthy. I am not wealthy, and I feel like these guys are part of a big cabal to bilk the public…just look at the bailouts and TARP….is it surprising that these guys have financial interests in all of the companies that they bailed out? LOL The pattern is not hard to see if you just look

    My 2 cents,
    Sam

It is a joke to think that the PEOPLE have any control, input or say in the issue of national debt. Politician have the best job in the world, spending other peoples money. It is a system ready to implode any day now and there isn't much we can do about it, in my opinion. When national debt reaches the point of critical melt down, (we are almost there, but not yet) it is bound to send us back to the days of actually carrying around gold to pay for our daily purchases!

There is a true and undeniable danger in the direction in which our monetary and economic situation is slipping and the roots of the problem lie much deeper than a half hearted and shallow political gesture can repair.

The austere measures that must now be taken, due the fact that our parents shoveled their quick fixes and debts onto their children and grandchildren to skate through life to their retirement, are too emense and must be fixed by thoughtful and pragmatic means.

No solutions have been offered on either side of the isle. The democrats seem to think that somehow spending more of China’s borrowed money and adding to already horrendous 15 trillion dollar debt is the answer. The republicans are so attached to their unconstitutional wars wether they be ongoing occupation and nation building of middle eastern countries, wars on drugs and personal liberties, or the efforts to block all attempts at bipartisan solutions, that there is only one candidate that offers TRUE SOLUTIONS that all real and true Americans should be able to stand behind.

The ONLY candidate that want to END THE WARS that have our young men and women continually leaving home on 4, 5 or 6 tours of duty without a true sense of victory and offering their families no true homecoming, instead only prayers that they will not lose them this time.

The ONLY candidate that has the economic experience to have predicted and repeatedly warned congress of the bursting bubbles of the housing market, the dollar and the stock market.

The ONLY candidate that is a protector of you personal and individual liberties willing to remove to ability to decide what is best for you on issues like abortion, gay rights and the search for personally acceptable medical services and treatments from the federal government and place them on you and your neighbors to decide what works for you.

The ONLY candidate that will remove the overbearing restrictions that are driving countless jobs and American businesses and their money into international markets.

The ONLY candidate that will stop the Federal Reserve from simply printing money and continually devaluing your hard earned paycheck.

The ONLY candidate that is not concerned with which side of the aisle you are on and only concerned with the country that our forefathers envisioned when they wrote the most important documents to mankind and man’s desire to be free and unshackled by goverment control.

This isn’t red against blue or me against you. This is fundamentally what is right against what is wrong and which direction we will decide to go. And I stress WE. There is a unity that attainable when great challenges present themselves. A pride that is seen at a 4th of July celebration, heard in a Strauss composition or felt when we remove our hats and sing our National Anthem at a baseball game.

The pill may be bigger than some wish to swallow, but we must not make the same mistake as our parents by foregoing the pinch of a solution for the comfort of relinquishing our responsibly and accountability by merely passing it to our children and granchildren. These are real problems that cannot be skated around any longer and require action now. Unfortunately red or blue have offered you more of the same spending and oppression of debt that lead us into this mess.

That is why my candidate is neither red nor blue. He offers me solutions that all American should be able to support and is emblazoned with colors of red, white and blue! We don’t need a democratic solution, nor a republican solution. We need an American solution! Don’t get lost or mislead by the things being fed to you as true in the media or an opinion formulated by anyone other than yourself. The time has come and the need is urgent. RESTORE AMERICA NOW! Ron Paul 2012!
