Firstly, Mr. Torres appears to be a pragmatist and a Constitutionalist, which CT is very fortunate to have as a candidate, and I pray that he can replace the incumbent there, for the betterment of our nation as a whole over the course of the 2010 and 2012 elections.
Regardless of the blatant unconstitutional actions of this destructive administration, there will be debate on the 'right' of Congress to supplant ITS will on the American public. However, the problem is systemically deeper. Several of the founders believed that the Bill of Rights was opening the door to the amendment process rather than unalienable; granted by the state rather than 'Endowed bye our Creator'.
On Constitutional interpretation, Jefferson wrote"The Constitution on which our Union rests, shall be administered…according to the safe and honest meaning contemplated by the plain understanding of the people…On every question of construction, carry ourselves back to the time when the Constitution was adopted, recollect the spirit manifested in the debates and INSTEAD OF TRYING WHAT MEANING MAY BE SQUEEZED OUT OF THE TEXT OR INVENTED AGAINST IT, CONFORM TO THE PROBABLE ONE IN WHICH IT WAS PASSED…Our peculiar security is in the possession of a written Constitution. Let us not make it a blank paper by construction."

Clint, Congress has obviously been taking the opposite approach. They prefer to use the words "Living Constitution". That being, the Constitution says whatever they want it to say. Now, they have advanced beyond that point, as the Constitution is completely irrelevant. The GOP is no better, as W famously said "The Constitution is just a damn piece of paper." However, i think I'm done with politics. This is the America that apparently, a large majority want. I mean, we keep electing people who behave this way, it must be what we want. Freedom is frightening. Independence is dangerous, and America is no longer the home of the brave.

Half…yes half of all medical costs to an American comes in his or her last year of life. Govt. can cut health care costs in half by letting us die before the last year of our life occurs.
Maybe that's okay. Who needs a last year of pain in a hospital. The whole system sucks.
